The struggle is real…………
In my current role as a nurse, I am a case manager who assist patient’s transition from the hospital to their home. Lately, the common denominator has been diagnoses of depression, anxiety, suicide attempts.
As I mentioned in my previous blog “Depression/Mental Health” https://bethshealthtips.wordpress.com/2022/12/05/depression-mental-health/
Mental Health Diagnoses have increased substantially in all age groups.
One of my patients in particular, a 23-year-old female, had been hospitalized. She was in the ER 3 times in the last 3 months. I was able to speak to her on one occasion, I could hear the sadness in her voice. Several attempts she had tried to end her life. As I listened to her story, I thought, what happened? what did she have to go through to get to this place? what were the events that led up to her current struggle?
Yes, the holidays are a time to celebrate with our family and friends. However, there are some who struggle with the holiday season for various reasons. Some have lost loved ones during the holidays, therefore, it’s not always a happy occasion.
We all know there are ways to help others in their struggle. In our busy lives, we can lose sight of the impact we can have with our everyday actions of kindness.
Be the one who…….
- Remembers when the struggle was real in your own life
- Smiles at others
- Opens the door for someone
- Offers a word of encouragement
- Gives compliments instead of criticism
- Doesn’t gossip and possibly make someone feel worse
- Call or text to check on family and friends
- Prays for others
- Listens and does not offer your opinion or advice unless asked
When the struggle is soul-aching, when the struggle is our struggle. It’s hard to see an end to constant sadness. Well, if you are there today, if your story is full of anxiety, depression, betrayal, confusion, fear, and it’s a story of great pain……
There is Always Hope………. Watch how in God’s creative, loving way, He will move you forward better than before.
There will be a day where your strength is greater than your struggle. You can laugh again, and can see a brighter future.
A day when you look back on things that have held you back. Times where you didn’t know if you would make it through the day.
You will look back with gratitude because you will realize you were stronger than you thought you were.
Your story is still being written, and the valleys will not keep you from the rest of the journey that awaits you. God can rewrite your stories, turning your trials, your struggles, into triumph.
On those days where you feel like the struggle is real, or your progress is slow, or you feel like you are stuck, slow down and cherish the lessons, and count your blessings!
